Come and see the latest collection of t43 jewellery as the 3 girls interpret LOVE in their very own perspectives. The LOVE collection presents Mystique, Unspoken & Yearning.
Showcase: 28th March - 1st April 2008 Bonbonbazaar@RafflesCity Atrium Level 3 for the Singapore Fashion Festival
L-O-V-E – At any moment in time, there are people in love, out of love, swearing off love or searching for love. It brings both pleasure and pain, is intangible yet ever present. It seems to be in the air that we breathe and the water that we drink. What is this fascinating contradiction that manages to inspire and motivate; and yet remains a universal mystery? Imagine, if LOVE could speak, what would it say?
Since resistance is futile, this collection serves to take a light-hearted shot at shedding light on what Love is. In our typical fashion of producing 3 different design styles to each theme, you will find a mix of quirky pieces and elegant, minimal forms. Go ahead; wear them like a badge of honour!

Posted by James on Feb 1, '08 4:32 PM for everyone Finally bought the super slim mac keyboard, makes blogging such a pleasure to type. I still await the technology for speech recognition data entry. So It's one of those weekends where everything happens at a bottleneck timing and you just cannot spread your love far enough. It's Carrie's birthday at Zouk and she (aka Mom) is joining me in being 30, the new 20s in todays context of stressful survival in such an urban jungle. Well now the sole purpose of turning 30 in trendy-today is to get sloshed by (not with) the persistence of your best friends alcohol feeding right? This clever girl brought her a bladder bodyguard (boyfriend) who was half-timing every feeding attempt we cheered to. Dammit, should've gone with the idea to have her arrive wearing a pink sandwich board advertising a big candy-fat "30". Bumped into Elspeth & Genevieve at Winebar too, in her feeble attempt at hello, Gen punched my over a decade old BCG spot like it was supposed to hurt.. well. Adding to already a lot of good feedback, they recommended trying out the foodies at Greenwood Ave tonight and I recommended they give me a lift there coz im not gonna take bus no.11 all the way there man. I was never a far out bukit timah kid. hmm. but with all these recommendations I could very well be converted. I'll just be the fickle aethiest in the land where food reigns over religion. Anyway, It is also the night that Ling goes on stage at Dubliner's (the Irish pub) which is right next to my office but the timing was tight. Thinking back it's too bad I couldn't be there to let my ears be graced by her new sound, and her much missed original songs. She's the only one I know who has had her YouTube account yanked off and as my friend Adrian's theory goes, because someone hacked into her account and was parading YouTube as her stolen profile, and on the way got her famous too. How much of that is the truth? I dunno, but keep on keeping on girl! I wanna design your first Album. What was interesting tonight was this little outfit organised party called "Are You Single-porean?" which was going on at the wee bit dodgy Rowell road along little india. Culprits are CandyKang, who made both HsiaoYing and Janet bartenders stressing out at the very crowded outcome thus constant long queue at the bar. This was one fantastic singles party I tell you. Among other DJs for the night, Rage played synth-pop from OMD!! a track which is bugging me now coz we couldn't find the vinyl cover, it could've been 'Souvenir', an appropriate tune to take home. Well-informed Cops gatecrashed too! the fella who reported us should join this Facebook group. Nevertheless, what was supposed to end at 1am (alcohol liscense) ended at 3am, excluding prata & mee goreng supper for the leftover singles! No no, no cops. My first flyer design for Lunar was as I later found out, supposed to be cheesily cheena... like I was supposed to design the flyer like an ang pow style. I really think that I should not have volunteered to do this job, haha! I could very well have focused my time and energies on something else that'd make someone else a happier client. C'est la vie, we don't always get what we want. Well, the weekend has landed, and Im to go be a Katong Kid wannabe again. Whilst in my search for new accomodation, a generous DJ friend has opened his Siglap home to me and my pool table for a friendly 600 good one$, so at least I have a good place to fall back on. Fortunate, my stars are aligned for future endeavours & smelly cheese.
Posted by James on Jan 22, '08 6:50 PM for everyone AURUM fine dining celebrates Valentine's Day with a specially concocted menu at just $288 for two! This is not only one of those 'Expensive but Cheap' situations I tell you, it's an exciting one because everyone of the 3 times that I've dined there, I have requested for a number of courses designed to my budget per head, and chef Edward has always managed to easily inject his 'off the menu' creations during the course of the dinner without distrupting the flow of the items. 5 Stars! My colleagues stood up for this artwork today! Love'em for it. It was a debate to decide whether the cold-faced flat chested tranny looklike (some ppl thought so) should be replaced with just bouquets of roses.. I say she stays! I've got the hots for her :D there was chemistry. So would you have thought that she was Saint Valentine? coz I put in only a little effort in trying to relate her to the headline. easy peasy doing up the halo versus all the other failed attempts trying to make smoke from chemistry flasks etc. Ryan! you should teach me some photoshop basics bro.

Im getting bored amidst the excitement of our Lunar 'asian fusion club' construction phase when everyone else is buzzing among the all the stress-induced bitching in the office atmosphere. Bored of what I'm doing although I am close to completing two proudly satisfactory pieces of work for the Nectarie desserts menu.(5MB pdf) & the Barfly 'Live' Poster (above). Bored that I feel a slight urge to move on and try something else from what I am doing here. A thought already endorsed by a couple of friends. Well today is my appointment with a talent scout agency, not that I totally find them useful in placing me in my ideal jobs, it's just to get away from the office like I yearn to every other day. I'm all for long lunch breaks that intentionally merge with my tea breaks. Quite a tongue twister for me. 'Punch Bob Square Specs' is a new look that I'm developing for myself, to accompany the sua ku reservist haircut. Quite a possibility in the near future at the convenience of the coming months salary. It shall most likely be glossy black plastic spectacles for the days when I don't feel like fiddling with my daily disposables. In the past months I have gone through a 2-week reservist recall and seen a bunch of good movies but am totally lagging in updating this personal blog, and still I am procrastinating. But when it happens... soon enough, it will be entertaining.
Posted by James on Apr 11, '07 4:01 PM for everyone I need to be fired. mainly for giving free booze to clubbers by the jugs. and helping to promote the forefronts of radical streetstyle. also for spoonfeeding links to free music, hehe! (not like you don't know how to find it) I sense with my sixth, that my upper management may not like me. My next post, 'Designer for hire' :P Otherwise, welcome to my facelift of club flyer formats that look nothing like Ministry of Sound or the Zouk formats I designed before. Thank goodness, even I was boring me. Heads up to Min (respekt) from JUICE mag, I promise to evolve from this although cut & paste is nobodys style. Its also the very first 3 issues of DISCO.TXT spanning April to mid May. You saw it here first, then on the streets.

Before I catch my 10am Aeroline bus back to Singapore and head back
to work before the day end, I promise myself to return to KL for the
food, then friends! Yea in that order. Hahah!
Ida (http://philistine.multiply.com/) aced it by choosing Hotel Capitol (http://www.capitol.com.my/index.html)
sitting right in the heart of Bukit Bintang. Not only is it central to
the most popular shopping malls (only minutes from Sungei Wang shopping
cmplx & Times Square) and people watching haunts, food is plenty
and cheap, especially with Jln Alor just 5mins away through a shortcut
across some blocks, and here I am putting down this entry in a 24hr
provision shop just at the hotel front at S$1.50/hr, that also doubles
as a very very well stocked magazine stand.
Friday night (immediately after arrival in KL) and Saturday we went
to Zouk KL thanks to Desmond (their graphic designer) for guestlisting
me on both days. Very surprised to bump into Yean at Zouk again since I
last saw her at the Zouk KL opening years back and thought that she had
already left the management team for some time. I remember Yean. The
pint-sized 'go girl' who took the video crew & myself out to
supper after the Zouk KL opening. She fed us well at Jln Alor which was
quite a red-light district as well. Quite sleazy backstreet area but
the food was good and everybody went there. Today Alor is quite cleaned
up according to Mervin (http://merv.multiply.com/)
as I walked along the streets again and some Chinese pimp with a limp
tried to sell me pussy for RM250 for a Malaysian Chinese girl or RM200 for an
Indonesian Chinese. Fuck off mister! Fuck off my face! I came to KL to makan.
Sunday I woke up like 2pm and got a RM30 cab ride down to meet Ariel (http://arielsit.multiply.com/)
& Chester at One Utama mall in Petaling Jaya. Thank you thank you
both for your company and bringing me around to SS2 for the food after
that pasar malam that I cannot remember whereis. Ariel, it took 3
attempts before a cabbie agreed to drive me back to Bukit Bintang at
the end if the night! It was RM25 this time. But yes as I said, I even
had time to buy some gifts before the stores closed for a Sunday night.
Anyway, this time HK milk tea, next time teh tarik proper as initially
agreed, ok? Love'ya! Talk to you more on MSN when i get back.
So it was a rather interesting trip having hung out with more people
than I had initially planned, and bumping into the sg bboys who jammed
at MOS previously on a thursday night with bboy Felix. Surprised to
realise that we were all checked into the same hotel, same floor, and
only just 2 rooms away. There was plenty of cheap and good food this
weekend. Found the 2nd Basheer Books out of Singapore and supported it
buying a magazine off its stand. Glad that most people speak English
here and were friendly like the first cabbie we had in KL, acting all
tour guide and answering all my enquiries. Thanks to
Adam for putting us up in his Suasana apartment on the first night,
that place is wicked man! See you in Singapore soon aii? Also
caught Judge Jules & DJ Blink (mo'Breaks!) & met Desmond &
Cher briefly at ZoukKL. Caught up with Yean Ng at the Terrace bar and
thank you for hangin' around and the wines! Thank you Mervin for tryin
to get me into the
new club Maison! Realised that there are no Hoegaarden Belgian White
Beers in KL wtf !?! Chester, nice to have hung out with you & Ariel
and met your friends and lecturers! You know who to call when you're in
Osim, Singapore.
Cheers all! It's 6:22am. Thanks for the weekend. In a matter of
hours I'm headed back to Fucking Sunny Singapore! Thank goodness I got
my Australian Mirool Creek Merlot 2003 to help me leave my Malaysian
mates without despair! Next stop, Koh Samui again (Barracuda BeachBar!) & Koh Phangan heheh!

Alright boys & girls. It's been a while since I last posted but who cares! Got
my skinny ass rehired to do Ex-Trim & Tummy-Trim products woohoo! A
month in & I haven't had a single pill but a lot of diet cokes and
late hours that prolly contributed to my slim & trim figure. Its
the lifestyle I tell you. Alright its quite lame... I shall delete this
post in a few days, right after everyone sees my new computer pictured below!
And
Oh My God! I didn't do this but I put it through production. The Dance
Nation 2xCD out in stores now! Rock influenced & electro clash
remixes. If you see the TV commercial, remember, it has nothing to do
with me too! My reputation in the design industry is sooo finished!
Good things ahead with the upcoming CD
promoting the launch of the Balcony before December, and outdoor lounge
concept on the side of the Heeren that is a bigger baby to us for now,
until the next bomb is dropped by Clement (he's my daddy!). Good thing already up in beta is the Ministry Of Sound Singapore microsite, so please don't go there until we complete it by Wednesday.
Wednesday also happens to be the day when my good bunch of jockeys spin for the love of http://www.ktone.fm
at New Asia Bar. So proud for Ryan to have managed to kick us all in
order to make this happen. Check the site for invites details because
it's got something about 1-4-1 somethings all night long. Hmmm? Well,
my sincerest tenks to AdrianTan(Soulja), DebbieChia(SecondMouse),
Weili(PWL) for helping my good friend Ryan in realising his 'one nights
worth'.
For those of you who take risks and gives a shit about new kids on the block, let us entertain you. Write in to Trashtalk@Ktone.fm and leave your full names for invites to automatically be on
the guestlist at the door on the first level at Introbar. This event is
at New Asia Bar. Level 71, Equinox Complex, Swissotel The Stamford. Mi casa su casa, let our house be your house.
On the next day from the 15th-17th Sept I have
secured an area at the 72-13 Gallery by Theatreworks. Its along Mohd
Sultan. A chillout area has been dedicated to its 11m x 9m vicinity abd
all I can say is that it will be v e r y c o m
f o r t a b l e . Somewhat to replicate this effect Read the full event profile here http://www.ktone.fm/lasalle/ So
if you're not invited, complain to the Theatreworks management for not
opening this up to the public, or write in to me for your name to be on
my guestlist. Just a few words of lipservice will do just fine. So its like that. GreyArea presented by Modus Operandi :Sonar produced by myself and the good people below http://www.ministryofsound.com.sg http://72-13.com
Today is another exciting day and I
have not slept from the day before because Im happy. Im happy that
Calvin met Adrian and we all had a good chat, that Mervin & Devin
volunteered to be our bartenders for the afternoon party, that Skye will
be the murderer (shooting) at our afternoon party and he invited us to
use his space, that I'm meeting new people in one concentrated
afternoon session and we will all be happy with drinks
& kontraband.
Ok I've managed to tire myself out typing this. See you soon my friends.

Posted by James on Jun 28, '05 2:23 PM for everyone It's bigger than Liquid Room, but rather small in comparison to Zouk but its futuristic design and concept outweighs our local heavyweights. Standing out in Bangkok's Sukhumvit area, this space pod welcomes you into its beds within its bright white interior. I finally visited Bed Supperclub after reading about it in Wallpaper magazine maybe 1 or 2 years back. Being on the tight schedule we only managed to go down for drinks on a monday night after dinner in the up an coming 'designer' Thong Lo area. Despite being the stereotypical mundane first day of the week, the club was packing up at about midnight and the 2 resident DJs were taking turns to spin some good funky house. Go learn more about Bed Supperclub online.
It's definately got my recommendation & I look forward to it in my future visits to Bangkok. http://www.bedsupperclub.com

http://post.fm/rojak/ I got myself into doing a 'standby your works' get-together organised by the good people at Post.fm. It happens right after my reservist period. It's called 'Rojak' to insinuate the variety of visuals on showcase on the night of June 10th. Definately looking forward to meeting new strangers & having rojak for supper. Starts 10pm & all are invited so if you're coming, do watch out for that dubious dude in black & a beanie by the food table downing rojak with wine.

Posted by James on May 18, '05 3:38 PM for everyone It's been awhile. 'I've been busy with work' is the general excuse (hurhur) but along the way things have happened, thank * * * for that my life isn't a bore yet.
Last Thursday morning 9am onwards. Who keeps ringing on my mobile non-stop wtf?! So it turns out 141Worldwide's (where I freelance) traffic staff was trying to get me to sit in for MC Guan who was on MC. Being a friend and all I agreed to step in after lunch to begin another short and sweet freelance stint. Yep, never a dull moment working with KimBully (copywriter) on Heineken Singapore projects. Yesterday was my last day there and to welcome Guan back to take over (once again) all the Heineken shit and to top it off, with spice like office politics, confused clients, incompetent account directors and tight datelines. Hang in there now Guan, can you smell your Bali trip coming closer?
Last Friday was cool because 3 things happened. Deadlines first, oops-LATE-but-done-and-over-with, we have wine and cheese on 'Copywriter Fridays', weekend warm-up sessions with Camembert, Brie, bottles of supermarket red and white wines, office gossips, bitch-slap sessions (hosted by KimBully) and smart-ass copywriter jokes. This time I contributed a young Riesling from Wolf Blass so I didn't need to feel shy about eating somebody elses cheese. Oh and the monthly DVD aunty came by today with the latest rips from Malaysia! New movies for my weekend WooHoo! Friday night... Well, Labyrinth's launch is now a 'has been' and the lead up to our test session (photos here--> http://jameskhing.multiply.com/photos/album/22 ) happened on the official night with some photos here on our Ad-hoc DJ, Ryan's multiply page: http://artnarchy.multiply.com/photos/album/16 Thanks to Adrian (Soulja) and my dude Ryan... and Electro Simon, for driving the BOSE Subwoofers crazy for a night. I was already tired from a days work but that night kept me alive for a lot longer than my life expectancy. Thanks guys. Wanna make it happen again? (shots of Labyrinth on Marcus's multiply below) http://restless.multiply.com/photos/album/7
That was friday night. Saturday was our house warming which I didn't have time to invite many of my friends, but they still turned up anyway despite last minute information. Kudos to you all man, I can't help it if my friends were a bunch of supercool super-reliable people who couldn't let me down. Looks like we have the German crowd which some of the people who turned up my German housemate didn't even know! We also had the pool hustlers who was teaching the girls how to shoot pool! We had other people and we also had rain! how fun, trapping everyone indoors so the headcount remained constant on the graph. Thanks to Marc & Keith for being the earliest to arrive! That was genuinely 'cool' ok my friends. Forget what they say about how cool it is to be 'fashionably late'. Saturday night was a night of good stand-up comedy from Russell Peters and Poppadums & fish curry dip. Oh and leftover alcohol for the next few days (slurrr)
Monday and Tuesday = More work & deadlines. Some of you know the drill. Good news is that it's break time for me again as the freelance stint is up and I am transformed into a stay home dog-sitter once more. 3 cheers for the bummer!
Telepopmusik (TripHop/Alternative Pop) Thanks to KimBully for the headsup. Soundtrack of my life. Note to all the uninformed people (even i'm late on this) not on the forefront of trip-hop music although a fan and maybe not knowing it. Telepopmusik has released A NEW ALBUM of 15 tracks, album titled 'Angel Milk', and yeah it's fuckin'xcellent chillout stuff. (See Album Cover) Have a listen to the 24kbps preview mp3s: http://catalog.allofmp3.com/mcatalog.shtml?group=2043&album=2&albref=18
And finally, to date. Oh the devil was born today. Devin that is. See you tonight at the restaurant man. Happy 24th. Lastly, today is Thursday, and let's say this in unison, THE WEEKEND IS COMING! And StarWars opens today too!

Posted by James on Feb 3, '05 5:49 PM for everyone During a recent lunchbreak, I decided to go shopping with a vague idea of my shopping list & reasonable spending power. The only thing for certain was to finally get a projector in place of the tele. So on that particular lunch break I spent a total of $(1900+159+209) "Ka-Ching!" $1900 is of course the cost of the SONY projector that I was gonna hook up to the SCV box, DVD player & my laptop. Home movies are now a reality with the inclusion of this super widescreen mama (see picture). At 2.5m it throws a screen larger than any $4000 Plasma TV. I say its money well spent & a better life choice made. With this I can go beyond home cinema in fact. Maybe in my retirement I will open a drive-in cinema. "Ka-Ching!" $159 (139+20 for delivery). Picture not included. I have always liked the idea of rocking chairs, so I bought one from the only place that I know has it, Picket & Rail. Didn't have to think twice about this one since I've been eyeing it from 2 years ago. Glad I bought it before this discontinued stock really finishes. Good thing the price also dropped from $300+. Now I'm left to pick up hobby knitting from Samantha. Yep, back to the farmhouse days. "Ka-Ching!" $209 I like chairs so much I might end up becoming a chair designer. Originally going at $130 each, these retro capsule chairs are reproductions sold at V.Hive for a while now. I got the last display pieces which, although were slightly scratched, were quite simple to repaint. Prices were slashed because of those minor scratches that I was able to happily afford without hesitation, and so I bought all the remaining 3 colors (see picture). At this rate, my house parties will never experience a shortage of seats. "Ka-Ching!" $Free Serene and I picked this up late one night heading out of the house for supper. Apparently a neighbor had discarded a retro designer lounge chair because the state of it was beyond old. So after our jaws hung for a while upon discovering the chair & after realising its make, we decided to haul it back home before heading out again for food. I contacted Lorgan (www.lorgans.com) since he's the only person I know who specializes in restoration & sale of retro furniture. I hope he gets back to me with news that 1.It can be restored to its original condition & 2.restoring it is affordable enough (This piece of trash was originally worth S$8000!!!), otherwise this poor couple will have to dispose of it once more!
Posted by James on Jan 27, '05 9:13 AM for everyone Scheduled on 15th Feb to move to Pacific Mansion across the main road from where I currently reside. Pacific Mansion has limited but sufficient facilities & since its on the 9th floor, its definately an upgrade for me, yes another step up in life. Higher rent, bigger space, my own bathroom and a pool view from the balcony.
Interesting fact about this place is that it probably holds the largest community of PRCs (Chinese lounge hostesses) who work around the area. This very old condo estate of four 19-storey blocks is also at least 40% rented out to expatriates from all over from students to professionals to specialties & extracurricular activities. Life is only getting interesting.
So, If you can hustle at the pool table, if you don't mind walking the Jack Russell, or if you love to cook(for us...pay lower rent!), you really have to consider moving in with us. We are 3 reasonably nice people with easy going characters who like to spend breezy balcony time with music & wine. Patch, the house terrier already loves you before getting to know you and will even leave you furry souvenirs. We'll have your friends over to join ours to exchange alcoholic fluids and good music. You can show off your pool table skills at the bar after practise on our 9footer with competition cloth. You can even customize your own portion of our outdoor garden(grass carpet included) after you get your own chair. Help us make this house a home.
Posted by James on Dec 30, '04 10:42 AM for everyone Perhaps you can help me with this. I have a 9ft. pool table to move along with me. Its baggage for life! I am looking for any place on the outskirts of our city central (20mins walkable!). This can stretch from City Hall to Newton Circus. I am looking for a whole unit or to move in with existing housemates who are party people. I have lived in Novena & River Valley area (currently) & dont mind moving around the district. Otherwise, these are the other areas that Im interested in: Balestier / Moulmein / Killiney / Selegie / Beach Rd / Grange Rd / Newton. If anyone of you have a place to share, I am keen to check it out. If you can spread the word or keep an open eye for me i will be most grateful. I am planning to move in Feb/Mar next year & am already starting to look now. Basically I do design work at Zouk & will be freelancing most of next year when I leave eventually. I dabble in electronic music mixing & enjoy little chillout multimedia parties with friends. Anyone adopting?
Posted by James on Dec 2, '04 5:40 PM for everyone The lastest addition to Ktone.fm which will feature at the launch too. A two part Breakbeat mix by Revenant, also known as my good bruddha Devin. Leaning towards progressive breaks is part one entitled 'Enter the Jekyl' & part two will hit you harder with tech breaks called 'In Trust We Hyde'.
